  Arlene Poteet has lived in Rockport a little over six years and vacationed here for several years. After retiring from SWBT in Austin as a manager in Sales and Service, Arlene has spent her time helping husband Layne in the office. Having been in telecommunication sales & service for over 25 years and then being a part of Layne’s construction & real estate business, Arlene was ready to use her sales & service skills in the Real Estate industry!

Arlene is a member of the Rockport Chamber of Commerce, The Texas Maritime Museum, and the Rockport Center for the Arts where she was a director in 2005. She was chairman of the monthly art receptions as well as chairman of volunteers for the 2005 Art Festival and house chair for one of the homes in the 2006 Tour of Homes. Arlene loves being involved in the many volunteer activities that we have with all the festivals in Rockport. Arlene enjoys reading, working in the yard, and going on boat rides with husband Layne and dog, Benji, who thinks the boat is actually his and howls loudly if he’s ever left behind! Along with Benji, Arlene & Layne have a cat, Tigger, eight children & eight grandchildren who love to come to Rockport to fish, swim, collect shells or paddleboat around in the canal.

After 20 wonderful years of country living in a small town in Northern Utah, I loaded up and headed to the coastal bend. I was in desperate search for something new. Not only was it an extreme change in climate, but also in the type of people. Texas welcomed me with open arms. Although I have only lived in the area for a short time, I have made friendships that will last forever. I currently live in Ingleside on the Bay and belong to the local Beach Club. I am new to the Real Estate business, but I hit the ground running. Each day I am learning new and exciting things about the industry. I believe that "Knowledge is Power".
